Electricity is the safe, healthy, and clean alternative to methane gas
Make high-efficiency choices such as induction cooktops, heat pump water heaters, and heat pump heating/air conditioning and you will improve the air quality inside your home and protect your family from gas leaks and the hazards of combustion. And because home carbon emissions are a large contributor to the climate crisis, going electric is important for the health of our environment as it is for your family. As a Peninsula Clean Energy customer, your electricity is at least 50% renewable and 100% clean.

Heat pump water heater (HPWH)
At least 40% of home methane use is to heat water. Heat pump water heaters are clean, safe, all-electric, and at least 3x more efficient than gas water heaters.
Heating, cooling, & air conditioning (HVAC)
Replace your gas furnace with a heat pump. Heat pumps are all-electric, clean, safe, at least 3x more efficient than gas furnaces and the same system also provides air conditioning.
- Heat pumps can integrate with your central, ducted system.
- For rooms that do not have central air, a mini-split or ductless system with a wall-mounted unit can heat and cool.
Induction cooktop
Electric induction stoves heat up food faster, have fine-tuned controls that are just as responsive as methane gas stoves, and are much safer and easier to keep clean. Don’t confuse these with old-fashioned electric coil stoves!
Clothes dryer
Energy-efficient electric dryers can replace your gas clothes dryer. Some use heat pump technology and can reduce energy use by 28% compared to standard clothes dryers.
Electric vehicle (EV)
Electric vehicles cost a lot less to run and maintain than gas-powered cars and emit 1/25 the amount of greenhouse gases.
EV charging
You can charge your electric vehicle from a standard electrical outlet to add about 40-50 miles of charge overnight. Or install higher capacity chargers.
Solar + battery backup
With a solar photovoltaic + battery backup system you can reduce your energy costs and power your home when the electricity grid is down.
