Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) provides residents and businesses in San Mateo County with clean, renewable energy from resources like solar and wind at lower rates than PG&E. For the first time, you have a choice regarding where your energy comes from. As an added benefit, PCE is offering you a choice of two electricity products, each with a different amount of clean energy from renewables.
Same Reliable Service, Lower Prices, Greener Power
Electricity continues to be delivered by PG&E through the existing power lines. Your current electric utility service and billing won’t change, and PG&E will continue to manage your billing and general maintenance, as it always has. Together, we are giving our community a brighter future by going green and becoming more sustainable. In addition to the power of choice, PCE is a community organization, which means earnings from ratepayers are reinvested into our community. To learn even more about PCE, visit our FAQ page.
What is Community Choice Energy?
Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) is a community choice energy (CCE) program. A CCE is a locally controlled community organization that enables local residents and businesses to have a choice regarding where their energy comes from. After a comprehensive feasibility study was completed and studied, elected officials from each member jurisdiction unanimously agreed to form PCE for the benefit of San Mateo County. As a CCE, PCE offers many environmental and economic benefits to the residents and businesses of San Mateo County:
Earnings will be reinvested into the community in the form of new energy efficiency projects and programs, which could lead to the creation of green jobs locally.
The environment benefits from clean, renewable energy. When PCE purchases renewable electricity (such as geothermal, solar and wind), the consumption of fossil fuels is reduced, leading to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
PCE provides the local community with more control over their electricity supply.
Peninsula Clean Energy is Countywide!
PCE is now serving all of San Mateo County with cleaner energy at low rates.
As a PCE customer, you’ll have a choice in the amount of electricity that comes from renewables with our two different product options. You can choose our default option, ECOplus, with lower rates and nearly double the percentage of renewable energy as your current service. If you can afford to pay a little extra and want to help even more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, you can choose our ECO100. When you choose 100% renewable energy, you’re leading the charge for a more sustainable future for San Mateo County.
