REDWOOD CITY, CA – Peninsula Clean Energy is launching its new Community Feedback Forum, a comprehensive initiative designed to deepen its partnerships with member communities and ensure robust public engagement as the agency’s programs and services continue to grow.
The Forum builds on the foundation created by the 15-member Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC played a valuable role in early community outreach and providing input on strategic planning, program design, including for expanding local building electrification, launching Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion (DEAI) initiatives, and other core agency efforts.
“The CAC has been helpful throughout our growth, providing insights that helped shape many of PCE’s early programs,” said Donna Colson, Burlingame Councilmember and Chair of Peninsula Clean Energy’s Board of Directors. “Building on the contributions of the CAC, the new Community Feedback Forum allows our now operationally mature agency to deepen its engagement with member communities in helping PCE shape its programs and services.”
Peninsula Clean Energy CEO Shawn Marshall added, “As our programs reach more residents and businesses, we want to ensure that our connection with the community grows alongside us. The new forum will be a bigger tent for engaging with community leaders that are more broadly representative of our diverse customer base.”
The new Community Feedback Forum, scheduled to launch early next year, will have no limit on participation, with the goal of tapping into more local expertise from nonprofits, community leaders and customers who share the agency’s goals of environmental stewardship, affordability and equity. It will also facilitate regular engagement with dozens of community-based organizations and grantees.
The new format is designed to both educate participants about PCE programs and activities and gather meaningful and actionable feedback at the earliest stages of planning and design, when that feedback can be best utilized.
The Forum will also include multi-lingual discussions, significantly more public participation and creative facilitation.
Current CAC members are invited to continue advising staff in specialized working groups focused on key efforts, such as building electrification. CAC members are also invited to help shape the new Community Feedback Forum to ensure its successful implementation and expansion of the agency’s community partnerships.
Interested members of the public are also welcomed to provide advice and guidance at meetings hosted by Peninsula Clean Energy’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. They may submit written public comments and pose questions ahead of those meetings at [email protected], in addition to making comments via zoom or in person. Upcoming meeting details are available at https://www.peninsulacleanenergy.com/meetings-events/.
