E-bike FAQs
Our rebate provides up to $1,000 or 80% of the purchase price, whichever is less. For example: if your bike is $900, your rebate will be $720. If your e-bike is between $1,250 to $3,000, you will receive the full $1,000. The purchase price of the e-bike cannot exceed $3,000 before sales tax.
No, each household is limited to one application (one bike).
Yes, you may purchase a bike from any bike shop. However, only participating bike shops will offer the incentive as a point of sale discount. If you choose to purchase a bike from a non-participating bike shop, you will receive the incentive as a post-sale rebate. Please contact programs@peninsulacleanenergy.
Peninsula Clean Energy considers a household as a single address. If multiple families live a single address, only one application from that address may be submitted. This requirement does not include apartments, condos, or multi-unit dwellings that have a designated unit number.
The application will open on May 16 and close at midnight PDT on June 5. Peninsula Clean Energy will inform the lottery winners by June 6 via email. The lottery winners will have 30 days to purchase their e-bike from a participating bike shop or any other store.
You do not need to be a customer of Peninsula Clean Energy to participate. You must live in San Mateo County or the City of Los Banos to be eligible.
No, there is no age limit for eligibility. However, an applicant must comply with the income eligibility requirements by EITHER;
(1) not be listed as a dependent on their family's tax returns and meet income requirements OR
(2) be listed as a dependent on their family's household tax return and the household must meet income requirements

Yes, there will be a waiting list. If an applicant selected from the lottery does not purchase their e-bike within the required 30-day period, Peninsula Clean Energy will contact applicants on the waitlist.
