PCE Solar + Battery Savings

Access State rebates that make solar + battery systems no cost or low cost

PCE Solar + Battery Savings allows homeowners save on energy bills and stay resilient during power outages. PCE helps customers access California state rebates for solar panels and batteries, or just batteries, at little to no cost. This offer includes installing these systems and any small home or roof repairs needed. We make the process easy for you.

How It Works

  1. Income Eligibility Confirmed: Fill out the form to show you’re eligible. Check the requirements here and have any necessary documents ready. We’ll review your form within 5 business days to confirm your eligibility or ask for more information.
  2. Home Qualification: If you’re eligible, PCE’s trusted solar contractor will check if your home is good for standalone batteries or solar + batteries. They will provide you with a detailed plan and cost estimate.
  3. Rebate Submission and Approval: We’ll help you complete the paperwork and submit your application as soon as funding becomes available. We’ll work with you to make sure your application has the best chance of being accepted. If the State approves your rebate application, we will ask you to sign a participation agreement.
  4. System Install and Final Sign Off: PCE’s trusted solar contractor will install the system within 12 months. They will also connect it with PG&E and show you how to use your new system.

Why Solar + Batteries?

Solar power helps you use clean, affordable energy at home and rely less on the grid. When you add batteries, you can use your solar power even when the sun isn’t shining, especially during peak hours from 4-9 PM when electricity costs more. Batteries also keep your home powered during outages.

What costs can I expect?

The PCE Solar + Battery Savings program helps you get you solar + batteries or standalone batteries by helping you access State rebates that could be able to cover 100% of project costs. If the rebates don’t cover everything because of specific needs at your home (like a roof that needs minor repairs), financing will be available to cover extra costs.

After checking your home, our trusted solar contractor will give you a detailed plan showing the costs and expected rebates. You won’t have to commit until you know all the costs—there are no hidden fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) is a rebate program offered by the State of California through the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs). In Northern California, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) is the program administrator for the SGIP.

Unfortunately, no. State rebates under the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) are highly competitive and given out on a first come first served basis. In the past, funding has been fully subscribed quickly for some customer segments. If your State rebate is not approved, we cannot move forward with your project. Having said this, we will work closely with you to give your application the best chance of being accepted.

Good news! If you are already on a NEM plan and you meet the Income Eligibility requirements above, you will be able to install a battery under the PCE Solar + Battery Savings Program while remaining on your current NEM tariff.

Important note: This applies specifically to NEM customers meeting the Income Eligibility requirements as listed here. Different rules are in place for solar customers that do not meet Income Eligibility requirements and you will want to understand the impact of incentives on your rate plan with your solar contractor

A typical roof life is around 25 years. In order to participate, your roof needs to have at least 10 years of roof-life remaining. That means if you have not replaced your roof since 2009, your roof could be too old to install solar.

Full replacement of a roof is not covered by State rebates. If you are able to take care of the roof repairs yourself before the solar install, you are welcome to participate in the program. Otherwise, you unfortunately won’t be able to participate in the program.

Minor roof repairs can be included under the solar contractor’s scope of work and can be covered by financing. PCE’s trusted solar contractor will assess your home and will explain your roof condition and potential upgrade costs and financing options to you before you commit to anything.

A solar + battery system at your home reduces the amount of electricity you need from the grid, meaning you pay less on your utility bill. Savings will vary based on the size of the solar system and your home's energy use habits.

If you install a standalone battery system, you will see a more modest reduction in your electric bill as your battery systems helps you offset your usage during times when electricity is most expensive (i.e., 4-9pm each day).

Even if you have to finance some of the project’s costs, it is PCE’s goal to reduce your monthly electric bills, including financing costs. PCE expects that most customers should see a modest savings on their energy bill as the savings from the solar + storage system should exceed the loan repayment. We will work with customers to estimate the bill impacts and if we find that you don’t save on your bills, we may recommend against your participation in the program.

Yes, you can still participate. This program offers incentives to install a standalone battery system if you already have solar.

Yes, that is permitted. This program offers incentives to install a standalone battery system no matter if you have solar or not.
