REDWOOD CITY, CA – Peninsula Clean Energy has launched Data Connect, a new free platform that focuses on allowing large commercial customers to access data to better manage their energy use.
Data Connect allows customers easy and secure access to their own energy data, as well as the ability to share that data with authorized third-party program providers.
The data includes both Peninsula Clean Energy and PG&E historical energy use and billing for all accounts, along with the ability to set up ongoing monitoring of meter data.
Data Connect is built on a platform designed by UtilityAPI, which is based on the federal Green Button data standard developed by the Obama administration.
Data Connect further enhances this platform, including new backend features that make it easier for large commercial and other customers to register and gain access to their own data through a user-friendly dashboard.
“This is a game changer for energy monitoring and verification in our city and has given us an entirely new level of clarity about our energy use and the associated costs,” said Brian P. Henry, assistant public works director for the City of Menlo Park. “Data Connect has automated a historical data import process that would have taken hundreds of hours and we are able to also automate the import of current data into our energy management software. No more transcribing bill data by hand AND we get data for every detail on the bill.”
